I don’t know anyone who likes insta-love, so it’s probably not a surprise for me to say that I prefer my books without it, but they don’t usually do more than annoy me.īut the insta-love in this made me cringe so, so, so much! Oh, why did I not highlight quotes? There’s a scene in which the heroine sees her love interest and she is afraid to kiss him because she never has kissed any boy before and is afraid she’ll do it wrong.Īnd what does the boy confess about? THE SAME EXACT THING SHE WAS THINKING. The characters have this way too young voice that feels contrived more than anything else. You know, I think I’m just not a fan of this author’s young adult novels, because I did try to read ‘‘When’’ as well, a couple of months ago, and had to put it aside for similar reasons. I cannot bring myself to read past page one hundred.
